Rupanshu Chaudhary/Hazaribagh.With the beginning of summer season, people like to drink various types of cold drinks, shakes, rabri, falooda etc. When it comes to Bihar and Jharkhand, apart from all this, the people here have a different craze for Sattu. Sattu has now become a part of the culture here, from protecting the body from heatstroke in summer. Generally people drink salty Sattu. But there is a shop in Hazaribagh where Sattu milkshake is prepared and served.
This special Sattu Dates Milkshake is served at Bajrangi Juice Corner located at Matwari Chowk, Hazaribagh. Vijay Kumar, the operator of this shop, told that he has been running a juice shop here for the last 7 years. Earlier, only normal juices and shakes were served here. But, since summer this year, Sattu milk shake is being prepared and served here. He claims that this recipe is his own. Right now people are liking Sattu milkshake very much. 50 to 70 glasses of it are being consumed daily in the shop. Currently its price is Rs 40 per glass.
This is how it is prepared
To make Sattu milkshake, firstly roasted gram is put in the grinder. Two types of serums are mixed in it. Then 2 dates, jaggery as per taste, light milk are added and crushed. When everything is crushed, ice is added to it to cool the ice cream milk and then it is made in a mixer grinder. After it dissolves well, it is served in a glass. To garnish it, either dry fruits or chocolate is sprinkled on top.
